i would like to say i tested my theory but i was a pie-eating sissy and only ate one or two pieces at a time. all talk, no action. but justin did witness the phil mariani "pundae" in action (see, pie + sundae = pundae).
my biggest challenge over the holiday weekend was 1) not buying 50,000 christmas ornaments at waterloo gardens near my parent's house. came home with a little owl named pierre (again, don't ask) and had to drag justin away from shaking the thousands of snow globes they had on display (i am completely serious. if i hadn't, he and my grandma would still be in there, shaking them all up over and over and over....); 2) not getting my mummy burn bandage wet...had to keep thwarting the instinct to wash a plate like a normal person.
thanksgiving was pretty uneventful and fun. lots of good food and quality time with the mariani clan (laura, my brother's wife, is a doctor and told me i was an *awesome* patient for swimming with my burns. whoops my bad.). we even braved the mall on black friday (shopping on black friday is much MUCH better than working at the mall on black friday.
that said, we didn't do much else except eat our way through 3-4 pies and lounge around like lazy bums. i also got to visit my horse, who is definitely benefiting from the mild winter we have had so far. he is an old guy and winter can be pretty rough on him but looking good so far. back in the day, he and i used to foxhunt on thanksgiving and i definitely miss that. riding until i cannot walk anymore was always a kickass use of my time. nothing like crawling home, covered in mud, totally thrashed from 6+ hours of hard, fast riding to eat my weight in food and then try not to fall asleep at the table. but not much has changed. i essentially did that but without earning it by riding myself into the ground. maybe next year;)
oh...peppermint hot chocolate. CRACK. more so than vegetable tempura.
my adventures in law, endurance events and everything in between (while still embracing the namesake of duckie mcquacksalot, esq.).
